Jackie Robinson is arguably the most significant figure to ever step foot on a baseball diamond. He broke the color barrier as the first African American to play baseball in 1947. He won the Rookie of the Year award, made the All-Star team six times, and won an MVP during his illustrious career. To honor Jackie Robinson the MLB has retired his number 42 and on April 15th every player wears the 42 jersey for "Jackie Robinson Day".
